I am not sure why it took me so long to post the blog from this AMAZING wedding in Italy that I was lucky to photograph this summer. I actually had this ready shortly after, but was feeling like I did not really do it justice. What do you even say about a once in a lifetime experience? How to I convey the magnitude and the WOW of this wedding the right way? I am not really a great writer. I never have been, I have never been able to find the appropriate words beyond isn’t this beautiful. Some photographers are so eloquent with their blog posts I come to read just as much as I come for the photos. Well, that’s not me. Unfortunately my gift for talking is more sarcasm then anything else and while I think I am funny, probably not the bests for a wedding blog.
R + B and I first met at their engagement mini session. I had been talking with Rachel for a while about all their wedding details, but we had not officially met. I instantly knew these two were soulmates. Watching them giggle and smile together made my heart happy. I knew their wedding would be epic.
Getting all the travel plans together was a little crazy, but a few days before they said I DO at the Tuscany Villa we made the trip from Orlando Fl to Rome, Italy. I thought it was a great idea to rent a Fiat for the drive from Rome to Tuscany, my husband did not agree. Now I thought Florida Drivers were wild…..NOPE! Thankfully we made it safely to where these two would Marry the next day and it took my breath away. The ceremony site overlooked the rolling hills and vineyards of Tuscany and the property boasted stunning architecture. (And cats) I didn’t know where to start I just knew I needed my camera out at all times.
On the morning of the wedding the bride and groom relaxed and prepped for the day. When I joined Rachel she was looking perfect and we could not wait to start photos. They chose to do a first look and they are some of the sweetest moments ever. One of my favorite parts of photographing in Italy was seeing the mix of Italian tradition sprinkled in. In Italy, everything is slower and they spend more time enjoying each event.
Especially the food. Wow the food! I am surprised we did not come home sick from eating so much, but the food in Italy and at their wedding was so incredibly fresh! I can’t help myself, but we have to talk about the food. For the rehearsal guests were treated to pizza and the most charcuterie platter I have ever seen. These two were so sweet to invite my husband and I to come along. Their hospitality while we were there is just a testament to what wonderful people they are. At the wedding reception guests had a full 7 course meal. Pasta and steak and YUM!
Even though this wedding took place in Italy, R+B still had a decent size group. Their loved ones couldn’t miss their day and many traveled to share the love. Once their reception was underway we snuck out for their couples portraits. Rachel told me she had dreams of running through the grape fields and we had to make that happen.
From the bottom of my heart thank you for being welcome and open and fun! Much love
